Staffordshire Oatcakes FAQs

When will my order be shipped?

If ordered by Tuesday evening (up until 8pm) we make very effort to bake all orders received and send out Wednesday.

Orders on Wednesdays up to 8pm are shipped on Thursday.

If ordered after 8pm on a Wednesday evening your order will be shipped from Tuesday the following week.

Can I order over the phone?

Unfortunately we can’t take orders for oatcake delivery over the phone as we have no way of taking payments via telephone.

Can I send the your oatcakes directly to someone else?

Yes, oatcakes can be sent to a friend or relative etc. Please try to ensure that they will be around to receive the order when it arrives.

Why is postage so costly?

As oatcakes only have a shelf life of around 3 days after they are made, we have to send by a next day courier service (or equivalent) to ensure the oatcakes arrive as fresh as possible. For best value ( if you have the freezer space available) we recommend ordering 5 dozen oatcakes as the courier delivery price works on weight of up to 5kg.

What are the surcharged postcodes/areas?

If you live outside of mainland England or Wales there may be surcharges for posting,

We use a next day courier service to send out our oatcake orders, where possible-
Some areas are surcharged by the courier service we use (and virtually all others).

Please see a list of surcharged postcodes below :

Why is there an option for Royal Mail Special delivery?

We offer the Royal Mail special delivery option as an alternative to courier delivery in areas that are surcharged or if you prefer a delivery by Royal Mail rather than a courier.
Please note that someone has to be available to accept and sign for the delivery.

Can you deliver the oatcakes for a specific date/event?

If you require oatcakes for a particular date e.g someone's birthday, please contact us via phone or email and we will be able to advise, the best way to order or the best date to get them as close to your required date as possible.

Why can’t orders be sent out same day?

We are a traditional oatcake bakery, pouring all of our oatcakes by hand. Our mix also has to work for at least 8 hours to be at its best.

We put our mixes in the night before so we must know beforehand how many we are baking on the next day, and also be able to plan what time to arrive at work to ensure we have time to bake all of the orders.
